Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Simple Habit Score is a habit tracking app that helps you build good habits and break bad ones. You create habits, track them daily, and see your progress through a scoring system that motivates you to maintain consistency.
Tap the "Add Good Habit" or "Add Bad Habit" button on the main screen. Enter a name for your habit, choose the point value (1-3 points), and set when you want to track it (daily, weekdays, or weekends only). Good habits give you points when completed, while bad habits subtract points.
Good habits (green) are positive behaviors you want to build - like exercising or reading. When you complete them, you earn points. Bad habits (red) are behaviors you want to reduce - like smoking or excessive snacking. When you mark them as done, you lose points.
The app has one main screen with all your habits. Tap the menu button (☰) in the top right for settings. Tap the calendar icon to view different dates. Tap habits to mark them complete/incomplete. Use the + buttons to add new habits.
Understanding Habits
Each habit has a point value from 1-3 that reflects its importance or difficulty. 1 point = easy/small habit, 2 points = moderate habit, 3 points = challenging/important habit. Higher point habits have a bigger impact on your daily score.
Daily: habit appears every day. Weekdays: Monday-Friday only. Weekends: Saturday-Sunday only. You can enable "Show All Habits" mode in settings to see all habits regardless of schedule.
Tap and hold on any habit to see edit and delete options. You can change the habit name, point value, type, and schedule. Deleting a habit will remove it permanently along with all its tracking history.
Yes! Press and hold on a habit, then drag it up or down to reorder your habits list. This helps you organize your habits by priority or preference.
Scoring System
Your score = (Points from completed good habits - Points from completed bad habits) ÷ (Total possible points from good habits) × 100. The score is clamped between 0-100%. For example: if you have 10 possible points from good habits, complete 8 points worth, and did 2 points of bad habits, your score is (8-2)÷10 × 100 = 60%.
A Perfect Day means you completed all your good habits scheduled for that day AND avoided all your bad habits. You'll see a special celebration banner when you achieve this!
By default, you only see habits scheduled for the current day. "Show All Habits" mode (weekend mode) displays all your habits regardless of their schedule, but habits not scheduled for that day appear dimmed and don't affect your score.
Scores reflect the habits and their point values as they existed on that date. If you've since modified point values or deleted habits, historical scores remain unchanged to preserve accurate tracking.
Features & Settings
Tap the menu button (☰) in the top right, then toggle the "Dark Mode" switch. The app will remember your preference and apply it automatically when you reopen the app.
Daily quotes are inspirational messages that appear at the top of your dashboard. Enable them in the settings menu by toggling "Daily Quotes". You can tap the refresh icon to get a new quote.
The Progress Chart at the bottom shows your daily scores for the last 30 days. Tap any bar to view that specific date. Higher bars mean better scores, and you can see patterns in your habit consistency.
Tap the menu button (☰) in the top right, then tap "Sign Out" at the bottom of the menu. This will log you out and return you to the login screen.
Troubleshooting
Make sure you're logged in with the same email on all devices and have an internet connection. The app syncs automatically when online. If issues persist, try signing out and back in.
Check your email for the verification code, including spam/junk folders. The code expires after 10 minutes. Make sure you're entering the correct email address. If you don't receive the code, tap "Resend" to try again.
Try closing and reopening the app. Make sure you have a stable internet connection. If the problem persists, restart your device. The app works offline, so you can continue tracking habits even without internet.
